History
of WBCA : In 1959, West Bengal
Chess Association was established with the affiliation
of All India Chess Federation.
The Godfather of WBCA late Pran Krishna Kundu was
the first Bengal Champion.
In 1969, WBCA office shifted to its new office at
Netaji Subhas Institute at Sealdah.
Sports department, Govt. of West Bengal alloted the
rooms for the new office at Netaji Indoor Stadium
in the year 1990.
Present office is well equiped with modern facilities
and is open in all working days from 3 p.m. to 7:30
p.m.
We have CHESS LIBRARY with a modest collection of
rare original books at room no. 2, Netaji Indoor Stadium,
Kolkata, India. All West Bengal State registed chess
players can borrow books from this library by paying
a nominal fee. (Rs.60/- per year)
WBCA Computer centre has been introduced in the year
1995 with the help from West Bengal State Council
of sports at Room No. 29, Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata,
India.
